Spotlight on Earth Month Bingo
The Switch Is On campaign is built on the belief that individual action matters: Electrifying your home isn’t just a symbolic gesture, but one that truly makes an impact on our climate future. But sometimes it’s easy to forget just what all of these choices are building towards. What are we protecting? Whose future is at stake? And what happens if we wait to take these meaningful actions?
To find the answer, look out your nearest window. Focus on the sun peeking through some clouds, or the wind gently shaking a nearby tree, or even just a family walking down the street. Losing these things, and the general beauty of our world, are what is at stake if we don’t make changes today to protect our climate.
That’s why we are joining with millions of other people this month to spotlight the Earth -- a partner so important, and so obvious to the work we do every day here at the Switch Is On, that sometimes it can be easy to lose sight of the bigger picture.
Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd. This holiday began in 1970, when Senator Gaylord Nelson and a group of student activists established Earth Day in the aftermath of the 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill. Earth Day has taken on global recognition in the decades since, with many people dedicating themselves to furthering climate action for the entire month of April.
The theme for this year’s Earth Day is Invest In Our Planet, an idea that hits very close to home for the electrification movement. However, there are so many ways to celebrate Earth month and to challenge yourself to make the world a better, cleaner, and more sustainable place to live.
This year, the Switch Is On campaign would like you to join us in Climate Action Bingo, a special Earth Month challenge our team put together to inspire and rally the electrification community. After crossing a few squares off your bingo card, we hope you feel inspired to take these small actions, with big impacts, all year long.
